Nov 20 New renderings revealed for massive USF on-campus football stadium
A new era of USF’s football program will begin as the school will break ground on its on-campus stadium this weekend.
They’ve selected the team of Manhattan Construction Co., H.J. Russell & Co. and DuCon, LLC as construction manager for the school’s new football stadium at its Tampa campus.
A transformative project on USF’s campus
This sets the $340-million on-campus facility back on course, following a strategic shift by the university last December regarding its project delivery approach. The university opted to terminate a year-long deal with a Barton Malow-led design-build team, which aimed to complete the stadium by 2026. However, this timeline was deemed unfeasible due to “significant global supply chain issues,” as stated by Barton Malow.
It promises to revolutionize the Bulls football program while fostering a dynamic, communal campus atmosphere. Beyond its impact on game days, this venue will cultivate a sense of unity, vitality, and engagement, enriching the university’s culture and spirit year-round.
Utilize the stadium for events beyond football
This on-campus stadium will also serve as the home of the USF women’s lacrosse team, which will likely host approximately 10-12 games per season. There may be opportunities to host concerts and other events such as graduation ceremonies, and students can use it for intramurals, club sports, or fitness classes.
The stadium will be located on the east side of the Tampa campus known as Sycamore Fields. The site, which is currently used for intramural sports, is within the USF Athletics district and sits near its operations facility and new Indoor Performance Facility.
